Hola amigos del Foro. Mi problema es el siguiente. Compre una MB PNY 7150, que supuestamente acepta 4GB de RAM. Le instale 2 tarjetas de 2GB cada una y solo reconoce 3GB. Que puedo hacer al respecto? He tratado de instalar un update para la Bios pero no se como hacerlo y menos desde donde a ver si se soluciona el problema. Gracias de antemano por su ayuda. Que significa Trial Version que aparece en el reporte en varias partes del mismo??

los sistemas de 32 bits, como windows XP, windows vista 32 bits y versiones anteriores de windows, solo reconocen 3 gb de los 4 totales.

no es ningun problema de tu pc simplemente ya se alcanzo el limite que los sistemas de 32 bits pueden manejar.

si bien tu pc utiliza los 4 gb, solo muestra 3 gb para ejecutar aplicaciones. el giga "perdido" es ocupado para ejecutar procesos del sistema operativo.

si quieres que te reconozca los 4 gb tienes que armar un equipo que soporte sistemas operativos de 64 bits. (procesador,tarjeta madre y sistema operativo)

el problema es que migrar a un sistema de 64 bits resulta muy complicado ya que no hay muchas aplicaciones que se ejecuten en esos sistemas operativos.

O_O de pasada por aca, vi algo q dijo jalapeño. y la pregunta es para el, y pues mi amigo tambien se puso 4 Gb de ram, el Windows Xp de 32bits reconoce solo
3Gb, pero me aclaras el hecho de q si trabaja solo 3 gb, o q el 1gb perdido de ram aun es util en el sistema plz.
si es posible mandame por pm una pagina q me explique o algo sencillo para entender y decirle a mi amigo q siga con su So de 32bits

es algo un poco enredado, pero tratare de explicarlo... y si alguien tiene algo mas que aportar pues adelante


los sistemas de 32 bits,64 bits y los que vengan... se reservan cierta cantidad de memoria que es asignada a todos los dispositivos de la tarjeta madre... a esto se le llama mapeo de memoria, se se aparta esa cantidad de memoria para algun futuro uso. por ejemplo... si tienes video integrado, tarjetas pci, pci express... (que tengas al tope de cosas tu tarjeta madre)

los sistemas operativos de 32 bits reservan este ultimo giga (se ocupe o no) para esos dispositvos.

esta limitante tiene solucion gracias al la extension de direccion fisica (PAE) pero aun no esta muy implementada en los sistemas operativos windows.

Hola Xalapeño. Muchas gracias por tu respuesta, pero tengo una inquietud. Un amigo aumento las tarjetas de memoria RAM que tenia la pc original de 1GB a 4GB. Al encender la pc solo mostraba 2.7GB, le actualizo la BIOS y quedo reconociendo las 4GB que le puso(..2 tarjetas de 2GB cada una). En que consiste eso? Puedo tratar de actualizar la Bios de mi board, y si es asi hay algun sitio desde donde se pueda hacer? (Gratis), porque segun Bios A..., hay una actualizacion disponible pero es pagando como USD 30.00, y el palo no esta para cucharas Ah.. y que significa eso de Trial Version?

La limitacion de los 4GB de Ram en los sistemas de 32 bits,no es de la placa base si no del propio sistema.Bien,yo tengo un portatil con 3GB de Ram,me reconoce 2,99.Esa cantidad se la dedica a la grafica principalmente.
Si tuviese 4GB,el sistema me reconoceria 3,25Gb DE Ram porque esa es la limitacion de los 32 bits:
Un campo de almacenamiento de 32 bits permite 2 elevado a 32 combinaciones posibles.
Esa es la unica razon.
La placa base,como ya te comente se puede reservar una cantidad de ram,pero Nunca mas de 800Megas.
La solucion es cambiar a 64 bits,porque pese a que vista con SP1 muestre que realmente tienes 4Gb nunca los podra usar,a no ser de que ejecutes Vista con una extension,como bien dice Xalapeño de 36 bits,siempre y cuando tu procesador lo soporte y tu equipo no quede inestable.
Lo que comentas de la Bios es muy posible,es lo que pasa por ejemplo en las placas Asus P5B,de serie solo aceptan un core 2 Duo,su maxima FSB es 1066 pero con una actualizacion de la Bios,soporta un Quad,eso si,a 1066.Las actualizaciones a veces "desarroyan" algunos aspectos poco pulidos en versiones anteriores de la Bios.
Trial version es que el everest es una version de prueba,y has de comprarla para desbloquearla.

TEoricamente,tu Pentium 4 soporta 64 bits,pero no es,bajo mi punto de vista,aprovechable,lo que gana Vista 64 Bits frente a XP 64 es estabilidad,pero vista consume mas recursos,y si quieres meter XP,a penas hay aplicaciones y drivers compatibles
La actualizacion de la Bios en tu caso no creo que consiga mejor rendimiento,los 4gb es problema del sistema,y puedes echar a perder la placa base

Hola Matabufalez. Gracias por tu opinion. Quiero aclarar algo mas si me lo permiten. En esta nueva MB, tengo instalados Windows XP Professional y Windows Vista Ultimate, en dos discos duros diferentes. En ambos casos solo me reconocen 3GB de RAM. Cabe decir que ambos Sistemas trabajan bien. En la MB vieja tenia lo mismo, pero con solo 2GB de RAM, y para vista tenia problemas con el video. Puede que esta informacion los pueda ilustrar un poco mas. De antemano muchas gracias por su tiempo.

la duda es similar a la que se plantea orlando92... he visto sistemas operativos tanto vista como xp manejando 3 gb de memoria de 4.... y tambien he visto casos como el que pones de ejemplo donde les reconoce 3,25 gb

ahi es donde sé que depende mucho de la forma en que se mapea la memoria por la placas base. y de como se distribuye ese giga "perdido"

tanto tiene que ver el sistema operativo, como el mismo controlador de memoria que asigan esos espacios.

pero seria bueno investigar sobre ese tema

Si usas un sistema Vista de 32 bit la limitación en el direccionamiento de la memoria Ram es igual que para Xp de 32 por la misma razón expuesta por Matabufalez, solo podrás direccionar más memoria Ram a partir de sistemas de 64 bits, aunque hay sistemas con el vista para el remapeo de memoria por parte de la Bios realmente el resultado es el mismo solo se aprovechan realmente 3, 25 Gb aprox y son los reconocidos como útiles por el sistema como dice Matabufalez..

Y tambien es como dice Xalapeño que la placa base se reserva una cierta cantidad de memoria para los dispositivos y configuración de hard.. pero esto no reluce en el tamaño detectado por el sistema, y también ciertamente la arquitectura del micro y FSB de la placa base limita el direccionamiento, de hecho verás en la Bios una cantidad real de GB (segun mother) y otra cantidad en el sistema dependiendo del sistema
